Daksh Kohli

IT Quality Analyst

Year Of Graduation : 2015

  • Round 1 Written Test

    Experience :

General aptitude questions(non-technical, mostly English and Maths) plus "Why do you want to join Capital IQ?" .
    Tips :

Attempt some online aptitude tests to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses beforehand.
  • Round 3 Technical Interview

    Experience :

For my profile (Quality Analyst), the interviewer picked up almost all the topics taught in the subject Software Quality and mainly focused on Software testing. Questions included both theoretical and practical concepts. For answering the questions based on practicality and applications, I tried to mould my answers with respect to what was taught in the theory instead of manipulating.
At the end I was asked a puzzle, an easy one, based on logical reasoning. The interview lasted for around 40 mins.
    Tips :

Speak only what you know. Do not try to make an impression that you are partially aware of the concept. Whatever you speak, you should be well aware of it as the interviewer cross-questions most of the time.
  • Round 4 HR Interview

    Experience :

First question, "What kind of work is done by the company?". My response was analysed and I was asked by the interviewer to explain him the terms I used in my answer which I mugged up from the Wikipedia.
Secondly, I was asked about my family.

Lastly, an explanation of my current college project was to be given.
    Tips :

Have a sound knowledge of, at least, what the company does and other prominent facts. Be fluent in answering the questions related to you.
  • General Tips

Process takes a lot of time; the later it gets, more is the stress you feel. Try to stay calm by indulging yourself in other activities apart from studying at the last moment for the interview

Archit Ahluwalia

IT Software Developer

Year Of Graduation : 2015

  • Round 1 Written Test

    Experience :

    There were two written rounds:
    1. The First one was a relatively simple aptitude based round of 30 min.

    2. The second round was a 1 hour 30 min test. It contained 4 sections: Aptitude, technical, DBMS, Quality Analyst. For software developer the first 3 were mandatory.
The aptitude section was easy. Nothing fancy. Technical section had few c/c++ mcq's and two coding questions:Reverse the words in a given string and largest sub array with equal number of 0's and 1's. The DBMS section had few mcq related to sql and 4-5 queries.

Shortlisting was done after both written rounds.
    Tips :

Technical and dbms section are important. If you can attempt one coding question and write good sql queries then you can stand a good chance to make it to the interview rounds. Focus on strings array and linked list in programming and joins and nested queries in sql.

  • Round 3 Technical Interview

    Experience :

Two interview were conducted for the software developer profile:
    INTERVIEW I:
The first one was short and some basic java and dbms questions were asked like dynamic polymorphism in java, multiple inheritance, diamond problem, abstract classes, acid properties etc.Along with these i was asked to tell the logic to find the nth node from the end in linked list in single traversal and to find the middle of a linked list.

    INTERVIEW II:
    2. The second interview was more in depth. It went on for an hour. The interviewer asked about my major project. A lot of questions were asked about the project regarding the technology i used, challenges i faced, algorithms that i designed. After that he asked me to optimize the code that i had written in the written rounds.
He also asked me to correct 1 query from the written round that i had wrongly written. I was also made to write a few more queries like delete duplicate entries from a table. Again more questions about java were asked.
    Tips :

Java and sql are the main skills they are looking for. Prepare them well.
Also prepare your major project as well.
They might ask deep questions regarding your project.
  • Round 4 HR Interview

    Experience :

This was my third interview. They called it the director level interview. It was more of a formality. The person who interview me was the senior director of development team.
He asked me about my project. We had an in-depth discussion regarding it. Other questions that he asked were why you want to join capital iq, where do you see yourself in 5 years etc.
    Tips :

Along with me all those who made it to the director level interview were offered the job.
  • General Tips

Go through programming questions from geeksforgeeks and crazyforcode. The level of coding questions is good but not very high.
Also focus on query writing and java.
